Patricia Shinabarger, age 98, of Holland, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
Pat was born in Holland, Michigan, on July 24, 1925, to George and Hilda Frego. She attended Holland Public Schools and married Jack Shinabarger on June 1, 1945, while he was on leave during WWII; they were married for 73 years. Jack and Pat raised their three children in Holland and were members of Grace Episcopal Church. Pat volunteered for many years at Holland Hospital and was an avid bowler and golfer.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 2019; son, Dan Shinabarger; son-in-law, Roger Wheatley; brother, Donald Frego and wife Arlene; sister, Beverly Harper-Essenburg; brother, Father Max Frego; and sister, Phyllis Tomlinson and husband Charles.
Pat is survived by her children, Gail Wheatley of Holland; Steve and Kelli Shinabarger of Holland; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Heidi and Justin George (Sky, Justin), Andrew Van Eden, Kyle and Jenny Shinabarger (Eli, Emmie, Roland, Lainey), Kaitie and Dan Kiefer (Gavin, Haiylen, Lennyn, Lawson); step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Wheatley (Ryan, Erin), Mark and Sheila Wheatley (Vivian, Adam), Sean and Heather Wheatley (Emma, Reese, Maddie); brother-in-law, Harry Shinabarger; and many extended family.
A private family memorial service is planned at Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Grace Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home and condolences may be left online at www.langelandsterenberg.com.
