Gladys VanDerMeulen

Gladys VanDerMeulen, 88, of Holland, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Gladys was born in Holland, Michigan, on May 31, 1935, to Richard and Reka (Minnema) Bouwman. She attended Holland Public Schools and graduated from Godwin High School. Gladys married Gordon VanDerMeulen on April 4, 1953. Gladys was an accountant and worked at Lifesavers for 14 years prior to her retirement. Gladys and Gord enjoyed traveling and spending winter months in Florida for many years in their retirement. Gladys and Gord are also longtime members of Faith Reformed Church in Zeeland.

Gladys is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gordon, sons: Rick and Mary VanDerMeulen, Dr. Douglas and Kathy VanDerMeulen, Scot and Mary VanDerMeulen; grandchildren: Beth & Jeff Maat, Alicia & Scott De Graaf, Dr. Matthew & Lacey VanDerMeulen, Amy & Benjamin Smith, Michael & Kirsten VanDerMeulen, Katelyn & Joel Meyers, Lisa & Mark Tanis; 19 great-grandchildren, sister Gayle Hoag, in-laws: Patti Bouwman, Ruth Lee, Marianne VanDerMeulen, Arlene Glass, Bruce & Mary VanDerMeulen; and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland MI 49423. A time of visitation will be 12:00-12:45PM Monday, prior to the service. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
