Eugene Grotenhuis, age 90 of Zeeland, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 in Zeeland.
Eugene was a member of Central Ave. CRC. He worked as a truck driver for over 60 years prior to retiring. He loved to garden and there were never any weeds in his garden. No matter how many hours he worked, he always made it home every night.
Eugene is survived by: his wife 68 years, Barbara; Children, Phillip (Karin) Grotenhuis, Kim Michael (Dorothy) Grotenhuis, Patti (Phil) Quinn; 8 Grandchildren, Paul Grotenhuis, Mark (Stephanie) Grotenhuis, Anna (Kevin) Johnson, Katie (John) Facto, Nikki (Nick) Cauley, Michael (Sarah) Grotenhuis, Daniel (Ashley) Quinn, and Emily (Craig Tanner) Quinn; Great-Grandchildren: Elizabeth Grotenhuis, Mary Grotenhuis, Walter Johnson, Naya Facto, and Alice Facto; sister, Verna (Ken) Quist; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna Grotenhuis, and Marcia (Jarvis) Brink; and many nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Hattie Grotenhuis; sisters, Angeline (George) Raterink, Alyda (Albert) Vander Hulst and Lavina (Arnold) Nienhuis; brother, Arthur (Gertrude) Grotenhuis, John Grotenhuis, Wallace (Lavinia) Grotenhuis, Harold (Leona) Grotenhuis, Donald (Donna) Grotenhuis, Lee Grotenhuis; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Juella (Tom) Van Eyck.
A funeral service will be Wednesday October 18th at 11:00 am at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave., in Holland. Rev. James Scholten will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 17th from 5-7 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, in Holland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Central Ave CRC Benevolence fund or hospice.
