Snga Soukrasmy, age 87, of Holland, MI was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 5, 2023, after a sudden and unexpected passing. He was surrounded by his loving family and it’s a blessed assurance to know of his faith and eternal home in glory.
Snga, a remarkable man, dedicated two decades of his life to serving his country as a high-ranking military officer in Laos. He displayed unmatched bravery and commitment throughout his military career. For twenty years, he stood as a beacon of honor, rising through the ranks and earning respect for his leadership. In a turn of fate, Snga made the courageous decision to flee the political unrest of Laos with his wife and nine children to a refugee camp in Thailand. In 1980, the family immigrated to the United States to start their new life. In this land of opportunity, he made immense sacrifices, leaving behind his homeland, his career, and his comfort, all in the pursuit of freedom and a brighter future. As they started their new life, Snga moved the family to several locations before settling down in Nebraska in 1983. He held a variety of jobs and retired from IBP as a meat packer and translator in 2002. He was an active union steward and was a voice for many employees. Throughout his 20 years of employment, Snga never missed a day and had perfect attendance. This is a true testament of his strong work ethic.
In loving memory of Snga we celebrate the life of a truly extraordinary man and father. With profound sadness, we announce his passing, but also with immense gratitude for the joy and love he brought into our lives. Our dad was a free spirit, a vibrant soul who embraced life with unparalleled enthusiasm. His zest for life was contagious, and his laughter could light up the darkest of rooms. He had an uncanny ability to find beauty in the simplest of things, reminding us all to appreciate the wonders of the world around us. As our dad, he was not just a parent but a guiding light. His unwavering support and boundless love created a nurturing environment where we could grow and flourish. He encouraged us to chase our dreams, to be courageous, and to live life to the fullest. His wisdom was as vast as his heart, and his kindness touched everyone he met. Dad had an adventurous spirit that led him to explore the world, to meet new people, and to experience different cultures. His stories of travel and his love for adventure inspired us to be curious and open-minded, traits that he instilled in us by example. In addition to his free spirit, dad had a deep passion for learning new information, taking morning walks, chancing his bets at the casinos, tending to his garden, and meeting new people, and he shared that passion generously with others. He was a source of inspiration and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Above all, he dearly loved his beautiful bride, and she was his light. He demonstrated unwavering care, ensuring she felt cherished with every morning coffee he made ready for her. While we mourn the loss of this incredible man, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind. His love and teachings will continue to guide us, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence. Let us remember dad not with tears of sorrow, but with smiles that reflect the joy he brought into our lives. In honoring his memory, let us embrace life with the same passion and love that he did, carrying his spirit forward in everything we do. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the cherished memories we shared with him. Rest in peace, dear dad, your legacy of love and laughter will forever be engraved in our hearts.
