HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 6, 2023) – A 39-year-old man has been arrested and arraigned on charges stemming from a fatal shooting at a condominium unit on Holland’s North Side.
Robert Lee Mayweather was ordered held without bond on Friday by 58th District Court Judge Juanita Bocanegra on open murder and felony firearms charges. He was apprehended late on Thursday night by members of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force in the Grand Rapids area. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, Mayweather emerged as the prime suspect in the investigation into the death of 36-year-old Shevell Shelton, who died on September 24 of a gunshot wound in the Willow Woods complex off of 120th Avenue.
No preliminary hearing date for Mayweather was immediately disclosed, and the case remains open. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
