Beginning at 7 AM, the new Gateway Spoon Cafe and Grill opens up for business off of East 24th Street at US-31 in Holland. Featuring both dine-in and to-go options on Wednesday through Sundays from 7 AM to 2 PM, with grab-and-go coffee, tea and baked goods available for an extra hour through 3 PM, the diner amplifies the work the Gateway Mission does, according to its Executive Director Jay Riemersma.
The former Zeeland High, U-M and NFL performer uses a football analogy in discussing the effort to get this operation open.
Meanwhile, Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence stages its first Purple Party/Team Trivia Night at a farm off of Cleveland Street in Nunica on Thursday evening, from 5 to 9 PM, to raise funds for supporting individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. Interim Executive Director Megan Hennessey says that it will include food, drinks, games, raffles and more.
Tickets are $50 per person or $350 for a group of eight, with more information in an online link here.
