Lois Louise (Zoet) Schierbeek, age 94, was called to her eternal home September 29, 2023. She was born October 10, 1928, at her grandparents’ home in Overisel, Michigan, to parents Gerrit and Julia (Hoffman) Zoet. She was raised on a farm in Fillmore, attended Beeline School and Holland High School. She was employed at Holland Shoe Factory and the Sewing Factory. She later worked for many years as a clerk at the Hamilton Farm Bureau. She also volunteered at the Holland Hospital gift shop and at Ditto’s.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Gerrit and great-granddaughter Jocelyn, and she is survived by three sons (Elwyn and Bette, Paul and Audrey, Calvin and Deb), two daughters (Marlene and Dan Sloothaak, Linda and Paul Witte), 15 grandchildren (Kathlyn, Bethany, Jonathan, Amanda, Tim, Tom, Kellie, Nathan, Kevin, Ryan, Michael, Amy, Madalyn, Trenten, Mason), and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jay and Shirley Hop, and in-laws Annie and Ed Prinsen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, some living in Canada and The Netherlands.
Lois was a member of Messiah Independent Reformed Church and a devoted daughter of God, now safe in the arms of Jesus.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Messiah’s Independent Reformed Church, A-4528 48th Street., Holland MI 49423.
Visiting hours will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, at the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland MI 49423. Interment will be in Overisel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland, Holland Christian Schools, Hudsonville Christian School, and Calvary Schools.
