POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 30, 2023) – A 44-year-old Grandville man lost his life on Saturday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash south of Coopersville.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Koster, the unnamed motorist was alone and driving his vehicle westbound on Leonard Street between 48th and 60th avenues around 4:30 PM when it veered off the roadway to the left, went down into a ditch, hit an embankment, and came to rest on the edge of a ravine. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle, and following unsuccessful efforts to revive him at the scene, he was pronounced deceased by the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
Leonard Street was blocked off for two and a half hours as a result of the incident, which remains under investigation. Anyone with any information on the matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
