HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 29, 2023) – The old adage of “all good things must come to an end” is being delayed a little when it comes to the home of Holland’s iconic DeZwaan Windmill.
This week, the city of Holland’s Parks Department announced that Windmill Island Gardens will be open for weekends through the middle of October, as well as for the Magic at the Mill holiday light show in December. This comes after over 140,000 people visited the venue for a second straight year, including breaking previous records for attendance earlier this month.
A magnet for drawing visitors to the Tulip City, Windmill Island has become a “hidden gem” for locals, according to City Manager Keith Van Beek.
Sunday is the final day for the park being open on a seven-day basis for 2023. The following two weekends, Windmill Island will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, with a reduced admission of five dollars for adult non-residents and free for youngsters under 15. Special events include the Artisan Market next Friday and Saturday, The second annual Magic at the Mill holiday light show will be on Friday and Saturday evenings in the first three weeks of December, with tickets going on sale on November 1st through a special website, a link to which is here.
