ROBINSON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 27, 2023) – Nobody was hurt, but there was a big mess to clean up after a garbage truck and a sedan collided west of Allendale before dawn on Wednesday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, a 27-year-old Muskegon man was attempting to pass a vehicle in the area of 120th Avenue and Lake Michigan Drive around 5:40 AM when his automobile struck the garbage truck, driven by a 48-year-old Plainwell man, that was slowing to turn into a driveway. While the car went into a ditch and rolled over onto its side, the collision caused the truck to leak hydraulic fluid all over the roadway.
County Road Commission crews had to be called in to clean up the fluid, causing the closure of 120th Avenue for some time. Wildfong didn’t mention if any citations were written up as a result of the incident.
