ZEELAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 26, 2023) – Two persons were injured in a crash just before dawn on Tuesday between Zeeland and Jamestown.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Dill, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to Byron Road and 48th Avenue around 6:45 AM. That was where a southbound sedan, driven by a 21-year-old Hamilton woman, apparently went through a stop sign and was struck by a westbound pickup truck, driven by a 29-year-old Kalamazoo man, who had the right of way.
The woman had to be extricated by rescue workers and was taken to U-of-M Health West in Wyoming in critical condition, while the man was also taken to that medical facility for treatment of a minor head injury. No names were disclosed.
Byron Road was blocked off for several hours as the collision remains under investigation.
