Peggy “Peg” Ann (Hawkins) Harpe, age 85, passed away on Saturday September 2nd, 2023 after a short illness.
Peggy was born on June 12th, 1938 in Petoskey, Michigan. After marrying Lawrence (Larry) Harpe on May 19, 1956 in Traverse City, Michigan, they moved to Muskegon, Michigan where she spent the remainder of her life. Peggy worked in the Meijer Deli for 17 years until her retirement in 2009. Peggy may also be remembered as a lunch lady at Bunker Junior High School in the 1970’s and as a bingo caller at several organizations in the 1980’s. She also had a passion to collect anything swan related. She enjoyed frequenting casinos (usually at the 7’s machines), reading, shopping, watching the Detroit Lions, playing cribbage, and indulging in her favorite sweet dark chocolate. One of her greatest joys was being Gigi to her three great grandchildren.
Peggy is survived by: her daughter, Renee Turner, son Scott (Michelle) Harpe; daughter-in-law, Kristi Harpe; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Joe) Merrill; brother, William (Vicki) Hawkins; half-brother, Joe Croff; and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy is preceded in death by: her mother, Carolyn (Annis) Hawkins; father, Paul Hawkins; husband, Lawrence (Larry) Harpe; son, Craig Harpe; son-in-law, Paul Turner; as well as two sisters and one brother.
At her request, no services will be held. However, a celebration of life open house for family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the VFW at 5209 Grand Haven Road, Norton Shores, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Harbor Hospice, Muskegon, Michigan.
