POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 31, 2023) – A 47-year-old Muskegon man was hospitalized after a three-vehicle pileup on Thursday morning near the southwestern edge of Coopersville.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Rick Sykes, the unnamed motorist was attempting to enter westbound I-96 off of West Randall Street around 8:40 AM when his vehicle collided with another vehicle at State Street. It caused the first vehicle to veer into the highway and into the path of a westbound semi, with the subsequent collision leading to the rig and trailer blocking both lanes of the westbound interstate.
While the first driver was taken to an undisclosed “area hospital” in stable condition, the other two drivers involved were not hurt. It took about four hours to clear the roadway, as the crash remains under investigation.
