OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 29, 2023) – The ongoing tension between leaders of Ottawa County government and the county’s Department of Public Health continues.
On Monday, Board Chairman Joe Moss and Administrator John Gibbs issued their response to last Thursday’s statement from Administrative Health Officer Adeline Hambley, in which she said that a requested Fiscal 2024 budget proposal from her department, in which funding would be cut from $6.4 million to 2.5 million, would “almost certainly close the health department within weeks of its implementation.” In the joint response, Moss and Gibbs said that Hambley’s claims were “disingenuous and made in bad faith for political purposes. For the Director of Public Health to attempt to influence the budget process through media theatrics, instead of good faith conversations with the County Administrator and the Board of Commissioners, is totally inappropriate and unprofessional.”
Gibbs then ordered direct access to the county’s communication outlets temporarily restricted for the health department, mandating that any such messaging be done through the county’s information office. Hambley, whose lawsuit against the county over attempts to remove her from her office is ongoing, held a virtual media briefing on Monday night through her attorney’s office objecting to Gibbs’ actions.
Birth control access is a direct correlation to reduced abortions. Joe Moss thinks, what? No one knows. Does he just hate the Health department in general? Does he hate immunizations? Is he still holding a grudge because he had to take care of his kids for a few months? Does he think no more restaurants need health inspections? No more remediation for e coli, salmonella, or Legionnaires? Septic tanks just leaking sludge for months waiting for one guy working for Environmental Health? Let freedom ring for only the few that deserve it!
sad, but true
OI is a HUGE scam that needs to be excised immediately
Do you think women might be able to access birth control in Allegan County?
