FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 21, 2023) – A new school year begins on Monday, and the first district along the Lakeshore to start classes for it’s K-12 students is one that has had an eventful summer.
On June 1st, the Fennville Board of Education selected Dr. Doug Greer to be the district’s new superintendent, and after agreeing to terms on a contract, he takes over for Jim Greydanus, who retired at the end of June. About two months later, voters approved a millage renewal and increase to .98 mills to fund public recreation in the district. Also in August, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department announced that Deputy Jason Kruithoff was named as the School Resource Officer for the district.
While the Blackhawks are first to be in the classroom, they will be followed by Holland Christian on Tuesday; Holland, Hamilton, Black River, Vanderbilt and Corpus Christi on Wednesday; Zeeland, Saugatuck and Calvary on August 29th; and West Ottawa on August 30th.
