ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 18, 2023) – The assimilation of the Corewell Health name in West Michigan continues.
More than two years after Spectrum Health and Beaumont Health announced plans to merge, and a year after the now-single health care entity agreed to a new name of Corewell Health, the facility off of Chicago Drive on Zeeland’s eastern city limits will be formally known as Corewell Health-Zeeland Hospital. Marketing and Communications Manager Sara Donkersloot says that the name change, which was announced on Thursday, had to be gradual in nature.
While the word Community is being dropped from its name, just as it was for Holland Hospital 19 years ago, Donkersloot says that Corewell Health-Zeeland Hospital hasn’t dropped its commitment to patient care.
The merger of the Spectrum and Beaumont health systems created the largest such entity in Michigan, with Zeeland Hospital being one of 22 operated under the Corewell Health name.
