DETROIT (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 10, 2023) – It was a big honor for the “Fearless Leader” on Wednesday night.
Peter Tanz, who took over the presidency of the 81-station Midwest Communications last year upon the passing of founder Duke Wright, was inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame during the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Summer Leadership Conference Awards Banquet in Detroit. The Wisconsin native has been with the company since 1985, overseeing its Michigan operations 10 years later, including the acquisition of WHTC in Holland in 1999, and his MAB affiliation includes being its chairman in 2017-18.
Tanz was inducted along with Henry Erb of WOOD-TV and retired Marquette television news director Steve Asplund, raising the Hall of Fame’s total to 85 members, including the late Juke Van Oss of WHTC.
