LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 27, 2023) – The Public Utilities Director with the Ottawa County Road Commission will remain on a statewide panel dealing with water use.
Patrick Staskiewicz of Grand Haven was tabbed by Governor Whitmer on Thursday to another four-year term on the Water Use Advisory Council. This panel advises the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the state Department of Natural Resources, and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on the state’s Water Use Program, which includes the Great Lakes Compact, water withdrawal issues, and conflicts in water use.
Staskiewicz has over 30 years experience in municipal drinking water and wastewater systems, and has been a past leader with the American Water Works Association. He will represent municipal water suppliers on the council through February of 2027.
Unlike some other gubernatorial appointments, this selection does not need state Senate consent.
