Iran “Ike” Gary Huizenga, passed away into the arms of Jesus being cared for by his loving wife and family at home.
Born on July 28, 1940, he was just shy of his 83rd birthday. Being a lifelong resident of Zeeland, Michigan he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother.
Over the years he participated in the activities he loved and enjoyed most: family, farming, studying the Bible, enjoying God’s creation in the great outdoors, fishing and wild game hunting. Ike played the piano by ear and serenaded many with his beautiful voice.
Ike was the husband of Janice, his loving and faithful wife of 57 years. He is also survived by his sons Iran Huizenga II and Jonathan (Tracy) Huizenga; grandchildren Garrett (Sarah) Huizenga, Corbin and Kaydence Huizenga, Victoria and Jenna Huizenga; great grandson Grayson Huizenga; brother Murl (Terri) Huizenga; brothers and sisters-in-law Warren (Karen) Jalving, Jim (Karen) Jalving, Mary (Jeff) Wassink Weisman, Barb (Nick) Weeber.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Garrett and Irene Huizenga, and brother Gorden (Arlene) Huizenga.
A memorial service to celebrate Ike’s life will be held at 3:00pm Friday, July 28, 2023 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1015 E. 32nd St., Holland 49423.
Visitation will be from 2-2:45pm prior to the service, and during fellowship time immediately following the service at the church.
A private graveside burial will be held in Blendon Township Cemetery.
