On December 28, 1974, Colleen married Jack Vanden Berg. They found their joy and calling in raising their five children, Erika, Hope, Betsy, Erin, and Jay. Their love and commitment to their family grew over the years as their family expanded to include 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Colleen had a deep and personal relationship with God. She devoted her life to Christ and to the people around her with a passionate and self-sacrificing love. Constantly placing the needs of others before her own, she spent her life pouring blessings upon others, and never wanting recognition. She loved the beauty of God’s creation, especially in music and her flower gardens. She was a courageous woman, facing life’s trials without complaint and standing firm upon the promises of God’s Word.
Colleen will be missed dearly by her surviving husband: Jack Vanden Berg; Children: Erika (Craig) Singer, Hope (Sam) Mason, Elizabeth (Nick) Gates, Erin (Joseph) Alt, and Jay (Melyn) Vanden Berg; grandchildren: Rachel Singer, David Singer, Luke (Stefanie) Mason, Anna Mason, Elise Mason, Jack Mason, William Mason, Micah Mason, Marie Gates, Natalie Gates, Katherine Gates, Alexander Gates, Grace Gates, Amelia Alt, Joseph Alt, Tessa Alt, Henry Alt, Emma Vanden Berg, Peter Vanden Berg, and Benjamin Vanden Berg; and great grandson: Andrew Mason.
Visitation will be held 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18 at Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA), 1015 E. 32nd St, Holland, MI 49423.
The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at Covenant with Pastor and friend Kenneth Klett officiating.
Burial will follow at North Holland Cemetery.
The family invites all friends and family to a lunch reception at 1:00 p.m. at Macatawa Golf Club, 4600 Macatawa Legends, Blvd., Holland, MI.
