The Hope College women’s tennis team has received academic awards from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2022-23 season. The Flying Dutch claimed ITA All-Academic Team honors and had three individuals selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes: Sullivan Moran, Delanie Riebschleger and Annika Weeber.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
Moran played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles and earned All-MIAA First Team honors. The sophomore and political science major is from Birmingham, Michigan (Wylie E. Groves HS).
Riebschleger graduated in May after majoring in nursing. The Rockford, Michigan, native (Rockford) competed at No. 3 doubles.
Weeber played No. 3 singles and No. 3 singles and claimed All-MIAA Second Team recognition. The junior from Rockford, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) majors in exercise science.
In 2023, 1,204 Division III women’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 160 women’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
