ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 10, 2023) – As the second full week of the state’s new no-nonsense ban on holding electronic devices while driving begins, the stance of law enforcement entities is that of education rather than ticketing at this point, according to Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker.
Baker understands how much of an inconvenience this new law may cause for motorists in the cause of traffic safety.
The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office is handing out phone mounts to people so that they can have their phones on the dashboard. The department didn’t disclose how many of these mounts, which would be attached to the dashboard vents, would be distributed, but did say that a state Office of Highway Safety Planning grant would pay for this initiative.
