Del was a kind, soft spoken man, who loved, honored, cherished and respected his wife, Shirley Westenbroek, for 65 years of marriage, up until her passing on July 27, 2022. Del worked at General Electric for 35 years until his retirement at the age of 53, when the plant in Holland closed down.
Family was always important to Del. He also loved to travel, Del and Shirley had the privilege to winter in Florida for 15 years which gave his children many opportunities to visit them. Mackinaw Island and Shipshewana were two of his favorite spots to visit during the summer months.
Since Shirley’s passing, Del had the privilege of spending every morning with the Lord reading from his wife’s personal Bible. He shared many times how precious those times were. He would spend time reading and praying every morning to start his day.
Dad we will miss you so much! We love you so much! And we know you are holding mom’s hand right now and praising Jesus! We love you!
Del will be deeply missed by those who survive, including: his children: Warren (Carol) Westenbroek of Holland, Deb (Scott) Sall of Zeeland, Tom (Mary) Westenbroek of West Olive; grandchildren: Breanna (Ian) Spencer, Alyssa Sall, Micah Sall, Austin (Lauren) Sall, Courtney Westenbroek, Corey (McKayla) Westenbroek, Kacey Westenbroek; great-grandchildren: Casper Spencer, Elijah Sall, Lincoln Sall; in-laws: Harold (Sherry) Diepenhorst, Jene Hofmeyer, Mary (John) Jager, and John Diepenhorst.
Del was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Westenbroek, in 2022.
