HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 6, 2023) – The long-rime leader of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Ottawa County is stepping down.
On Thursday, the non-profit agency that works with those who have been affected by child abuse announced that Darcy Fluharty has submitted her resignation, effective on July 28th, after 25 years as executive director. Appointed to the post by CAC founder Cora Visscher, Fluharty has seen the Center grow from a small facility east of Holland to its current location on Holland’s North Side, among other accomplishments. She decided to move up her slated retirement at year’s end.
“I was both honored and excited when hired as the founding Executive Director. I was thrilled to join those who were part of the hiring team back then who challenged me with developing policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices all in a fiscally responsible manner. I sincerely thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the growth and subsequent impact on our communities. Protecting and serving all kids and families no matter what has been my greatest honor.” – Darcy Fluharty
The Center’s Board of Directors, chaired by former Ottawa County Sheriff Gary Rosema, will begin a search for a new executive director, and may turn to an interim leader until that search is complete.
