Four members of the Hope College women’s golf team have earned spots on the 2022-23 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. Seniors Rita Cheney and Grace VanDellen, junior Abby Fansler and freshman Sara Muir each claimed the distinction.
Recipients must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the team’s season, and have played in 50 percent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team’s conference championship.
Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason HS) is a four-time recipient. The biology major graduated in May.
VanDellen (Oxford, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest) also is a four-time honoree. The mechanical engineering major graduated in May.
Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) earned the award for the second time as a junior. The mechanical engineering major also received the award as a sophomore.
Muir is a freshman from Ada, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian).
There were 1,401 honorees nationally from 378 programs.
