He will be greatly missed by Rose Bouma, his wife of 33 years; daughter, Kim and John Goodin; and sons: Steve and Judy Kraker, Tom and Glenda Kraker, Dan and Mary Kraker, Jeff and Heather Kraker. He also leaves special in-law family, Art and Wilma Miedema; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by parents, Doede and Hedrikje Bouma; siblings, Beppe van den Akker, Jean Faber, and Jan Bouma; nephew, Marcel Faber; and his first wife, Sophia Bouma.
George always loved music and utilized this passion as a sound technician for Sandy Pines Lakeside Chapel for over two decades. During Florida winters he served the Nettles Island Park community in as many years, providing music for church services, numerous social club events, theatre, festivals, and gatherings. He enjoyed being a “DJ”, learned to line dance and even performed on stage in a theatre production. George loved people and was quick to provide humor, always prompting a mischievous grin.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate George’s life, Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland, Michigan. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dave Van Noord, will begin at 2:00 p.m. The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
