HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 3, 2023) – With an extended fireworks holiday weekend, experts have tips for those who shoot off these explosives to stay safe.
Grand Rapids Fire Department Battalion Chief Mark Noorman says the dry conditions this summer pose a danger despite the recent showers, and that even simple things such as sparklers can cause burns. Other tips include having water on hand for anyone shooting fireworks, paying attention to space in discharging these explosives, and being aware of local regulations as to the time when such festivities are allowed to take place.
Holand Department of Public Safety Police Services Captain Bob Buursma explains those regulations involving the Tulip City.
Holland’s official Independence Day celebration is on Tuesday over Lake Macatawa, with festivities at Kollen Park starting at 12 Noon, and the fireworks set to begin around dusk.
