OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 17, 2023) – A 26-year-old Zeeland man was hospitalized after a collision of two pickup trucks in Olive Towship late on Friday night.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Nicholas Knott, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the area of 120th Avenue and Polk Street around 10:20 PM. That was where the unnamed injured motorist, traveling southbound, had rear-ended the other pickup that had stopped in an effort to turn left into a private drive.
Rescue crews had to extricate that motorist, and he was taken to Corewell-Zeeland Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The other driver, a 39-year-old Holland man, was apparently also hurt in the collision, although Knott did not immediately disclose the extent of his ailments. He also didn’t go into any circumstances that may have led to the collision.
The roadway was blocked off for several hours as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.
