HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 13, 2023) – A 58-year-old Ravenna man was hospitalized after a single vehicle crash on Tuesday morning in Hudsonville.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jeff Steigenga, the unnamed motorist was driving his flatbed truck westbound on I-196 around 10:20 AM, carrying a couple of Hi-Lo’s. Approaching the 32nd Avenue junction, his vehicle went off of the freeway, going about 200 yards before becoming airborne and landing on the surface street below. The two Hi-Lo’s also flew off of the flatbed.
Bystanders were able to get the motorist out of the cab of the truck, and he was transported to an “area hospital” in stable condition. The surface street had to be blocked off for several hours as Ottawa County Hazmat crew members checked to see if there were fluid leaks caused by the vehicles involved.
Steigenga added that no other vehicles were struck, nor any other persons injured, as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.
