PAW PAW, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 13, 2023) – A Holland native is back in Michigan after spending some time at the elite FBI National Academy.
Inspector Ryan Schoonveld, a 21-year veteran of the Michigan State Police who is currently the assistant commander of the Fifth District post in Paw Paw, graduated last Thursday from the school based at the FBI’s noted training academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was part of the 286th session of the 78-year-old academy that offered 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. The 239 graduates came from 47 states, the District of Columbia, 25 countries, five military organization, and six federal civilian organizations, and fewer than one percent of officers are privileged to attend this program.
Inspector Schoonveld rose through the ranks since graduating from the 118th Michigan State Police Trooper Recruit School in 1999, and holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Trinity Christian College in the Chicagoland area.
