HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 9, 2023) – It has been less than a month since the 94th Tulip Time Festival ended, but organizers are already at work for the 95th edition of Holland’s annual signature event.
On Thursday, a “call for artists” was issued for entrants into the 14th First Bloem competition that will determine the official poster for the festival. Between now and October 10th, submissions will be accepted that not only incorporate the festival’s mission of celebrating tulips, Holland’s Dutch heritage, and the Tulip City today, but will also include bicycles for 2024. Kristin Doversberger was the 2023 poster winner.
Kim Smith, owner of Perception Gallery, will decide upon the 20 finalists based on artistry, skill, and adherence to these requirements, with festival officials joined by members of the Holland Area Arts Council to determine a winner, which will be announced in February. The other 19 finalists will go into a “People’s Choice” competition, in which festival goers will decided their favorite, with that winner announced at the end of the festival, which runs from May 4th through the 12th.
Competitors can submit up to three works at a single $35 entry fee for consideration, with an online link to registration here.
