BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 6, 2023) – A 31-year-old Grand Rapids man was injured in a single-vehicle crash northwest of Hudsonville on Monday night.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Koster, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to 72nd Avenue and Bingham Street at 11:15 PM. That was where a northbound Jeep had struck a mailbox, and then the unnamed motorist over-corrected in trying to get back onto the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, which then veered to the left off of the roadway again. The Jeep hit a ditch, went airborne, and flipped over several times before landing on its top.
The lone motorist was unconscious when rescuers arrived, and after being extricated from his vehicle, he was flown to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in critical condition.
Koster disclosed no other details surrounding the circumstances of the crash, which remains under investigation.
