UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, May 28, 2023) – An annual tradition continues in Holland on Monday.
The Memorial Day Parade steps off from Central Avenue and 8th Street shortly after 9 AM, with veterans, bands, floats and more heading east and south to Pilgrim Home Cemetery for an 11 AM remembrance ceremony. Mike Martin and the Holland Area Veterans Council is taking over operations of the parade this year.
Audio from the Pilgrim Home Cemetery ceremony will air live around 11 AM on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
Some of the other communities holding organized Memorial Day observances include: A 10 AM Mt. Pisgah Paddle at Holland State Park; a 9 AM Memorial Day Parade through Main Street in Zeeland to a ceremony at Zeeland Cemetery; a 10:30 AM Memorial Day Service at the Olive Township Cemetery and subsequent Memory Walk to the Olive Township Museum; a 1 PM Memorial Day Parade in downtown Saugatuck; a 9 AM Memorial Day Parade to Hamilton High School; a 9 AM Memorial Day Parade down Baldwin Street in Jenison; a 10 AM Memorial Day Service at Veterans Park in Hudsonville; and a 10 AM Musical Fountain Special in Grand Haven.
