ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 15, 2023) – As the city of Zeeland embarks on a large-scale snowmelt installation for the downtown district, the cost of maintaining such a convenience will be determined on Monday evening.
During its biweekly business meeting, Mayor Kevin Klynstra and the rest of the Zeeland City Council will hold a public hearing ahead of voting on a special assessment resolution that would, in part, impose a $1.19 per square foot levy on property owners who would have snowmelt installed on public right-of-way on their site.
Installation is set to begin after the Memorial Day holiday.
Before the 7 PM meeting and 6 PM work study session in Chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm), council members will be touring the city’s Public Safety Building (29 E. Main) at 5 PM as part of a strategic action plan to better utilize municipal facilities. An online link to the meeting agenda and supporting documents is here.
