Also surviving are grandchildren: Emily Wolters Shemon, Lisa Wolters Ruggeberg, Steven Wolters, Blake Becksvoort, Brooke Becksvoort; great-grandchildren: Alexander, Evelyn and Lucas Shemon, Noelle and Jesse Ruggeberg; in-laws: Barb Becksvoort, Julia Stadt, Ruth Becksvoort, Leona Scholten, Martha, and Jim Zylstra.
Born to John and Rena (Dannenberg) Bleeker, on September 15, 1935, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffery Scott; son, Thomas Lee Becksvoort; daughter, Lori Jean (Becksvoort) Wolters; brothers: Harry, Arthur, and Laverne Bleeker; and in-laws: Harvey Becksvoort, Arthur and Lois Becksvoort, Jim Becksvoort, Marvin Stadt, and Wayne Scholten.
Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were most important to her, and she was a positive force that kept their lives woven together.
Elaine’s life was also centered around music. She began piano lessons at the age of 6, organ at age 12, and started her musical career at Bethel Reformed Church at age 13, where she served as pianist/organist for over 50 years. During that time, she served as Director of Music. For many years, she taught private piano and organ lessons and played for numerous weddings and funerals. She was a pianist for the Evergreen Chorale’s Tulip Time Shows as well as a member of the Sanctuary Choir at Christ Memorial Church and the pianist at the Camp Geneva Sunday Services. Elaine and her husband spent many winters in Florida where she directed a Ladies’ Chorale group and was pianist for many other musical functions.
A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Road, Holland (Use Entrance D). A funeral service, with Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiating and John Bright accompanying, will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church Chapel. Burial will take place in Graafschap Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Christ Memorial Church Music Department.
