COOPERSVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 18, 2023) – Two teens are facing charges after a Coopersville drug store was broken into overnight on Tuesday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Lieutenant Jeremy Baum, deputies were dispatched around 12 Midnight to Tasker’s Drug Store off of Main Street on a report that a front door was smashed out. They found that numerous prescription drugs and other medication was taken, and in-store video surveillance showed one person entering the building through that front door and departing the same way a short time later. The store was empty of any employees at the time.
Detectives were able to locate the 16-year-old and 17-year-old suspects in the area, and the unnamed pair allegedly admitted to the crime. Some of the stolen items were recovered. The younger boy was taken to the Ottawa County Youth Home, while the county prosecutor’s office is determining what charges will be filed against the older youth.
The case remains open, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
