Gayle Alice Wehrmeyer, age 82 of Holland, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Inn at Freedom Village.
Gayle was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Holland to Clifford and Doris Steketee. She was a 1958 graduate of Holland High School and a member of Calvary Reformed Church. A lifelong resident of the area, Gayle managed the G.E. Credit Union and was a bus driver for Holland Public Schools for many years. She was passionate about her family and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Dave and Gayle enjoyed spending many of their retirement years wintering in Bradenton, FL at The Tara and have many fond memories from their time spent with friends there. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her grandchildren.
Gayle was preceded in death by her husband David of 59 years on Aug. 10, 2021; her parents; Clifford and Doris Steketee; and her sister-in-law Patricia VanderSchel.
She is survived by her son Todd (Jan) Wehrmeyer and their children John (Gabbi), Nick, and Maggie; daughter Jodie (Dean) Ferrell, and their son Adam (Margaret) Assink; in-laws, Mary (Dick) Hilbink, Joanne Green, Judi (Tim) Snow; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Gayle’s life will be 4:00 pm, April 27, 2023, at Calvary Reformed Church, 995 E. 8th St., Holland. Rev. Dan Carter will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 pm until the time of the service on April 27 at Calvary Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Sunshine or Calvary Reformed Church.
