LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 14, 2023) – The leader of Latin Americans United for Progress has been tabbed for a state panel.
On Thursday, Governor Whitmer’s office announced the appointment of Johnny Rodriguez to a three-and-a-half-year term on the Hispanic Latino Commission of Michigan. The Hope College graduate has been at the helm of the Holland-based group for the past 18 months and has helped revive LAUP’s efforts to promote the Lakeshore’s Latino community after several organizational setbacks.
The Commission helps develop a unified policy and plan of action to serve the needs of the state’s Hispanic and Latino population in an advisory capacity for the Governor, Legislature and state government operations. Rodriguez’ appointment is subject to “the advice and consent” of the state Senate.
