On April 7, 2023, Chad Konynenbelt’s brief but intense battle with cancer ended in Victory! Jesus, who stretched out his arms on the cross on Good Friday, came on Good Friday to carry Chad home to his Heavenly Father saying, “This is one of my sheep.”
Chad was born on January 5, 1976, in Seoul, Korea. Nine months later, on October 9, his loving parents, Harry and Diane Konynenbelt, with great joy welcomed him home. When Chad was little, he would tell people with a little swagger in his voice, that his sister Tammi came from the hospital, and he came from an airplane.
Chad graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1994. Chad loved sports, especially college sports. He was a huge Michigan fan. From the day his beloved nieces were born, he began making them into Michigan fans by buying them everything Michigan for birthdays and Christmas. It was a true expression of love when he began buying Spartan gifts for one of them.
Chad had a big heart. His favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends. He was often found helping a friend or family member. He was a huge part of helping Mom and Dad build their homes and was often alongside his Dad working on a project. His presence, teasing, and laughter will be greatly missed.
God used his big heart, his love for people, his gifts, and his life experiences as a Resident Supervisor at Gateway Mission. He was blessed and honored to work alongside his many co-workers and guests of Gateway Mission. Contributions in memory of Chad can be made to Gateway Mission.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, Harry Konynenbelt; Opa Lambertus Konynenbelt; Oma Anna Konynenbelt; grandfather, Robert Rosendahl; grandmother, Lois Rosendahl; Uncles: Rev. Marvin Konynenbelt, John Janssens, Keith Rosendahl, Charles Rosendahl; and aunt, Mary Konynenbelt.
Chad is survived by his mother, Rev. Diane Konynenbelt; his sister and brother-in-law, Tammi & Gary Hossink; nieces: Summer Hossink and Aubrey Hossink; uncle, John Konynenbelt; aunts: Herma Janssens, Ann (Bob) Veenkamp, Ina (Don) Jansen, Kristi Rosendahl, Karen (Mark) Bosma, Barb (Curt) Bosman, and numerous cousins.
