HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 4, 2023) – As the Holland Aquatic Center awaits the results of an one-mill, five-year operational levy renewal request on the May 2nd ballot, officials accepted nearly $82,000 in a rebate check from a local utility on Monday.
The HAC was in line for the funds through the SEMCO Energy Energy Waste Reduction Program, mostly from a new high-efficiency six-boiler system installed as part of the nearly-completed $26.3 million expansion and renovation project, financed through a bond proposal that voters in the Holland Public Schools district approved four years ago. That system provides heating and cooling to all nine of the center’s pools that holds a combined 1.3 million gallons of water, as well as the rest of the 128,000-plus square foot facility.
Amanda Duimstra, General manager of the Aquatic Center, said in a recent appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town” that some finishing touches remain on the renovation project.
