ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 3, 2023) – It looks to be a busy Monday evening for the Zeeland City Council.
In the 6 PM work-study session before the business meeting, the governing panel should discuss proposed resolutions that would allow city residents to keep up to four chickens – no roosters – as well as bees on the property, with restrictions. Some home owners had sought these measures as a way to fight back from rising grocery prices. City staff look to have council vote on these measures at their next meeting in two weeks.
During tonight’s 7 PM business meeting, Council is expected to vote on annual operation and maintenance fees for the proposed downtown snowmelt system that should begin to be installed this summer. The initial proposal would be $2.11 per square foot for property owners who would have this system installed. In addition, the panel is expected to adopt the 2023 Strategic Action Plan and Points Assignment that has been in the works since Council’s goal-setting retreat this past January.
Council meets in Chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
