Blaine was born July 25, 1951, in Holland, to Lester and Eberdene (Zeedyk) Knoll. He graduated from West Ottawa High School and joined the U.S. Army National Guard. He married Kristi Jo Nieboer on November 14, 1972, and they raised their daughter Lana in Zeeland. Blaine worked for Excello Micromatic, Worden, Herman Miller, and lastly the Parks & Cemetery of the City of Zeeland before his retirement.
Blaine loved history, old television & radio programs, big band music, old movies, the Great Lakes cruise ships South American, North American, and any local or nautical history. He volunteered for the Zeeland Historical Society, served on the board for the Holland Historical Trust, and was most recently working on the West Michigan Pike project. Blaine was passionate for “The Pike”. He was a member of Second Reformed Church of Zeeland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Kristi Jo Knoll in 2021, and his older brother Woody Knoll in 2022, his brother Robert “Bobby” Knoll, and his infant sister Sally Knoll.
He is survived by his daughter Lana Knoll & her husband Ted Bevelheimer, his significant other Norma Buursma, in-laws: Gladys Knoll, Kourtney & Ruth Nieboer, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service for Blaine Knoll will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, at Second Reformed Church, 225 E. Central Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. Visiting hours will be 4-7 pm, Thursday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Reformed Church.
