Molly Angela Baker, 92, of Saugatuck, MI, and Key Largo, FL passed away on March 5th, 2023.
Molly was born on May 6, 1930, to Marion and Angela Buttles in Zeeland, MI. She and her twin, Mary, were the first twins born in Zeeland Hospital. After graduating from Holland High School and then Hope College, she taught school before raising her children.
She knew her husband, William “Bill” Baker since they were in the same grade together at Holland High School. They wed in 1955 at Hope Church, going on to raise 2 children, Chris Baker and Maggie Conklin. They were members of The First Congregational Church of Saugatuck since they moved to Saugatuck in 1970.
Molly loved to travel and spent time on 6 of the 7 continents. Some of her favorite places were Alaska, The Bahamas, Italy, Kenya, Ireland, and Mackinac Island, but she always loved Saugatuck best.
Molly was a passionate painter, and many lucky people have one or more of her watercolor or oil paintings. She won many art awards over the years and enjoyed going to destination art workshops around the U.S. and Europe.
Molly was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Angela Buttles; and sister, Mary Jordan. She is survived by her husband, Bill Baker; children, Chris Baker and Maggie (Ron) Conklin; several step-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery with a private graveside service. A public visitation is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Holland.
