Ernesto M. Calanchi Sr., age 74, of Holland, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
Ernie was born in Monahans, Texas on June 12, 1949, to Julian Calanchi & Juanita Lopez. His older brother brought the family from Texas to Holland, Michigan. He was employed by General Electric as a foreman for 25 years and finished up his working life with Donnelly Mirrors in Grand Haven, Michigan after 15 years of service. He spent the last 15 years of retirement in Georgia. He was known for his solid work ethic and great sense of humor. Ernesto enjoyed the simple life and also enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Baldwin, Michigan. He enjoyed doing yard work to stay busy. Ernie was married for 48 years to his late wife, Willie. Ernie was a long-time active member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Georgia. He was loved by everyone that knew him and he will truly be missed.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 12, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A funeral ceremony will be held to honor Mr. Calanchi’s life and legacy on Monday, March 13, at 11:00 am, in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, 994 Paw Paw Drive, Holland. A graveside service and interment take place after the funeral ceremony.
Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Mulder Chapel.
