Sherwood “Woody” Hoving, age 73 of Zeeland unexpectedly passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, February 23, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Marcia; his children and grandchildren: Leah and Mitch Stephens (Tyler and Alex), Kristen and Brandon Smith
(Bradyn and Kailynn); his siblings: Bob Hoving, Loren, and Arla Hoving; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cheryl and Nels Johnston and several nieces
and nephews.
Woody was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Arla and Don Carroll and his sister-in-law Lois Hoving.
Woody was a Vietnam War veteran who proudly served in the US Army. Woody retired from Walter’s Gardens where he worked for 36 years. In his
retirement, he worked at Ageless Autos where he enjoyed detailing cars and making trips to Flint to pick up cars. Woody and Marcia enjoyed their winters
at Fort Myers Beach and their summers at Silver Lake. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whether it be fishing or attending their
sporting events, rain, or shine. In his spare time, you could find him washing his car, working on puzzles, or doing a home project for one of his kids. He
was a member of the Family Church-Ebenezer Campus. Woody was a patient and meticulous man and no matter what he did he took the time to do it well.
Visitation will be 9:30-11:45 am Saturday, March 4, 2023, with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Family Church-Ebenezer Campus, 5166 Ottogan
St, Holland. Interment will be in West Drenthe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Beacon of Hope. www.yntemafh.com
