UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 26, 2023) – For the 10th time, and for the second year in a row, Hope College swept the MIAA basketball tournament championships outright with Saturday night victories.
At Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids, Marcus Wourman had 18 points as the Flying Dutchmen held off the host Calvin Knights for the men’s crown, 61-54. Meanwhile, at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland, Savannah Feenstra had 23 points and 15 rebounds as the Flying Dutch captured the women’s title with a 76-65 triumph over the visiting Trine Thunder.
The NCAA will announce Division III championship tournament pairings tomorrow afternoon.

Grand Valley State swept a regular season-ending basketball doubleheader in Allendale against visiting arch-rival Ferris State yesterday afternoon. Nicole Kamin and Hannah Kulas each had 12 points as the Lakers took the women’s opener, 72-55. Isaiah Carver-Bagley and Britain Harris each had 21 points as the men topped the Bulldogs in the nightcap, 90-84.
GVSU begins MIAA tournament play on Wednesday evening, with the men playing Lake Superior State in Sault Ste. Marie, while the women host Purdue Northwest at the Fieldhouse Arena.
