UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 25, 2023) – Hope’s basketball teams will be playing for MIAA tournament championships this evening after Friday night semifinal victories.
In Grand Rapids, Evan Thomas had 19 points with 11 rebounds as the Flying Dutchmen downed the Trine Thunder, 67-56. Hope will now face the host Calvin Knights, who bumped off visiting Olivet, 81-60, at Van Noord Arena, with coverage from Mike Coleman and Casey Rutledge at 7 PM on the Lakeshore’s 92 7 The Van.
In Holland, Ella McKinney had 17 points as the Flying Dutch held off the visiting Albion Britons, 58-53. Hope will entertain the Trine Thunder, a 66-61 winner over Calvin, at DeVos Fieldhouse, with coverage from Greg Chandler at 7 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
Grand Valley State’s basketball teams conclude regular season play this afternoon when the Lakers take on the Ferris State Bulldogs in Big Rapids.
In state major-college basketball on Saturday: Matinees include Michigan State at Iowa, Northern Illinois at Central Michigan, Ball State at Eastern Michigan, and Wright State at Detroit; evening encounters include Western Michigan at Akron and Northern Kentucky at Oakland.
