SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 10, 2023) – Sheriff Daniel E Abbott reports Thursday afternoon around 2 o’clock, the Van Buren County Sheriff Office Narcotics Unit was conducting surveillance in South Haven at the Walmart parking lot. A Detective observed a narcotic transaction take place between subjects in the parking lot. Detectives requested local South Haven Officers to assist in making a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. South Haven Police attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle that led officers into a pursuit.
During the pursuit Officers from Covert Township Police Department were able to successfully deploy stop sticks on the suspect vehicle. After the tires were deflated the suspects came to a stop and were apprehended without incident. Narcotics were recovered upon search of the suspect vehicle. Deputies were also advised that a citizen had witnessed the suspects throw something out the window of the vehicle as it passed them during the pursuit. South Haven Police K9 Ryker was called to that area where an article search was completed and a firearm was located. Both suspects were lodged on multiple felony charges at the Van Buren County Jail.
