
Hope's Ana Tucker
The Hope College women’s indoor team is ranked 18th in this week’s United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association Rating Index.
The index is compiled by qualifying marks for the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
In the national poll, Hope totaled 49.77 points. Washington University is No. 1 with 191.87 points.
In the regional poll, the Flying Dutch scored 196.78 points. The University of Mount Union (Ohio) is first with 357.47 points.
Hope, the highest-ranked MIAA team nationally and regionally, has recorded NCAA qualifying marks in four events.
Senior Ana Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) is ranked first in the 3,000 meters, third in the 5,000 meters and eighth in the mile. Tucker is fastest in the region in all three events.
Freshman Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / T.C. West) is 18th in the 200 meters. Schermerhorn is second fastest in the region in the event.
Hope’s distance medley relay of senior Julie Timperman (Lafayette, Indiana / Faith Christian), senior Samantha Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / T. C. West), junior Erin Moran (Arlington Heights, Illinois / John Hersey) and senior Grace Behrens (Mishawaka, Indiana / Trinity School at Greenlawn) is second-fastest in the region.
The Flying Dutch’s next meet is on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. Central the University of Chicago’s Windy City Invite
