SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 1, 2023) – A long-time jurist in Allegan County has passed away.
George Corsiglia succumbed at the Clark Home in Grand Rapids on Sunday at the age of 87 after two years of failing health, according to family members. The Kalamazoo native had been a practicing attorney in his hometown, including serving as an assistant city attorney for Kalamazoo and advising the municipalities of Fennville, Otsego and Plainwell, before being appointed to the Allegan County District Court by Governor Bill Milliken in 1972.
Two years later, Mr. Corsiglia assumed a seat on the then-newly established seat on the 48th Circuit Court bench, remaining through his retirement in 2010. Known for his tough yet fair rulings, his judicial stint was one of the longest in state history.
Mr. Corsiglia is survived by his wife Sandy and his sister Irene, among other relatives. A private family-only mass is scheduled in Kalamazoo with no visitation, and a private burial will also take place.
